I know it’s been a WHILE since I wrote. So to my one reader … I’m sorry.

Anyway, I’ve officially started JG Photography! *claps for self*. I have been pretty self conscious about my photography for a while. I just wasn’t sure if I was good enough to start selling myself as a photographer but regardless if I still think I’m good enough or not I have decided to put myself out there. The site (thanks to Wix) went up a few days ago. Go check it out and send me some clientele! ^_^

I’m really feelin’ this artwork inspired music video to Kanye West’s “MONSTER”. This collection was created by Jason “Artboy” Tate of the brother/sister duo “Unusual Minds” (Kelly Tate and Jason “Artboy” Tate).

If “Monster” doesn’t already have a video Kanye West should definitely get with Unusual Minds and put something together using the characters they created in this video because the artwork seems to be right up Mr. West alley. Even if “Monster” does have a video, he should make ANOTHER animated video using the characters created by Unusual Minds. I know Mr. West is into the animated videos soooooooo … yea. The video is just a snippet of the song but the artwork is crazy. Take a look.

The Unbalanced Potrayal of Women in the Fashion Industry

Reading this article really pissed me off. The way plus sized models are discriminated against just disgust me, it’s ridiculous. I think curvy women wear the clothing better than any skinny bitch. Who really wears a size 0 anymore? I mean some of these model agencies and designers say you have to be a size 0-4 … who the fuck is that?! Find me someone that’s naturally that size and haven’t starved themselves to get there. They should portray all women of all sizes in these “high fashion” magazines. I never see some skinny looking Gisele bitch walking around in the REAL WORLD. They need to get with the times, big girls are coming and I support them all the way!

Bibi Aisha: The Taliban Did Not Win

Bibi Aisha, an Afghan woman promised to marriage at age 12 by her father was married to a member of the Taliban at age 16 to pay off a debt. When Aisha tried to escape her husband she was caught and under Taliban rule her husband was given permission to mutilate her. As punishment for trying to escape he cut off her nose and ears and left her for dead in the cold mountains.

Despite bleeding profusely, Aisha managed to crawl to her grandfather’s home and from there her father took her to an American medical facility where medics cared for her for ten weeks. She was then transferred to a secret facility in Kabul and in August she was flown to the U.S. by the Grossman Burn Foundation to stay with a host family.

Now 19, Aisha proudly wears a prosthetic nose that was fitted at the non-profit humanitarian Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital in California. The prosthetic nose is just temporary. Dr. Peter H. Grossman hopes to give Aisha a more “permanent solution”; this would involve reconstructive surgery.

I was inspired to write about this story because unfortunately not all Afghan women escape the brutal domestic violence they have to endure on almost a daily basis. Bibi Aisha was lucky and her spirit, despite what she’s been through, is just uplifting.

It is estimated that about 90 percent of women in Afghanistan are domestically abused. 

Something has to be done.

The Model World is Full of Shit pt. 1

I’ve applied to about 30 or more agencies in the last week and a half, so far the only response I’ve gotten is “you’re not what we’re looking for”. Now I’m not angry because they told me no, I’m frustrated because they don’t even say why and when I write them back and ask them why I’m not what they’re looking for, I get no response.

Not only do I get no response but some even write me and say that I’m considered a plus sized model … Plus sized? Now I’m not a super skinny chick, I have my curves but I am definitely NOT plus sized! I’m 5’9″ and I weigh 130lbs on a bad day … when did that become plus sized??! And what do they have against plus sized models anyway?!? They act like plus size can’t be high fashion. Don’t be afraid of the curves, a lot of women have them …

I feel like you either have to be dead or look like you’re dying to be “what they are looking for”. They get these chicks that wear a size 0/0, slap some clothes on them and put them on a runway or in a magazine and they are supposed to represent “normal”? I don’t know ANYONE that wears a size 0. I’ve NEVER worn a size 0, the smallest I’ve ever been was a 4 and people would tell me I looked malnourished … I don’t want to look like I don’t eat!

I think there should be more normal everyday looking people in the magazines, people that everyone can relate to, not people that others basically deform themselves trying to be. The world is full of different types of people and I think that should be represented in modeling.

Anyway this is part one because part 2 will enclose the actual emails from the agencies I applied to. I want you to see what these people say and how discouraging they can be.

Paranormal Activity 2

I’m hella excited about the sequel to the very scary Paranomal Activity coming out October 22nd!!  http://www.paranormalmovie.com/

I’ll admit the first one scared the BaJesus out of me and I didn’t sleep comfortably for more than a week. I still get the feeling that something is going to grab me by the leg and drag me down the halls of my apartment. The fact that JAPAN will be behind this sequel doesn’t make it any better for me because Asian horrors are by far the scarest films ever made. The Asians really know how to tap into your deepest fears. They don’t just stick to the “boo” tactic, they really get into your mental and that’s why I appreciate Asian films.

So I expect Paranomal Activity 2 to bring several sleepless nights because I guarantee this one is going to scare the piss out of me.
